The Center for Global Health was founded in 2017 by  Prof. Dr. Dr. Andrea S. Winkler and Prof. Dr. Clarissa Prazeres da Costa as the first kind of its kind to champion global health agenda at TUM. The energetic co-founders and project managers address global health challenges through an interdisciplinary approach that connects biomedical, social, technical, and political sciences.

Our activities span research on infectious and non-communicable diseases and promotion of the One
Health framework, which informs our evidence-led approach for policy advocacy in Germany and beyond.
Our research, teaching and training, and capacity building is based on fruitful global partnerships across
four continents.

Our Mission
To advance global health in equitable and sustainable ways through support of interdisciplinary research,
education, service provision and community engagement, grounded in collaboration with local and global
partners.

Our Vision
To make a significant and sustainable contribution to the achievement of global health equity, especially in
resource-limited settings, by supporting the new schools at TUM and the university at-large to become a
transforming force in global health and to strengthen Germany's role in this endeavor.

We are based at the TUM School of Medicine and Health and supported by the TUM University Clinic’s
Department of Neurology and the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene (MIH).
